MN-35的原型车就是道奇M35系列卡车。35系列卡车是美军装备最多的车辆，被称为陆军的载重马，40年代末期由Reo开始生产，当时有两种车型：中后桥单胎型的M34和中后桥双胎M35，后产生多种变型车。该系列车采用104.39 kW的六缸直列多燃料发动机、5前进挡1倒挡机械变速箱、二速分动箱、机械转向装置、气液制动系统，半椭圆钢板弹簧非独立悬挂。最高车速90 km／h，最大爬坡度60％。无准备条件下涉水深度为0.76 m，有准备条件下涉水深度为1.98 m。该车型历经多次变形,至今仍有很大部分在美军使用。
