竹简雕刻历史源流：

竹刻是中国特有的一种专门艺术。唐代竹刻在宋郭若虚《图画见闻志·卷五》中记载颇详，当时的竹刻技艺及作品与当时之金银镂錾、石刻线雕同一意趣。
宋代竹刻家詹成所造鸟笼“四面花板，皆于竹片上刻成宫室、人物、山水、花木、禽鸟，纤悉俱备，其细若缕，且玲珑活动”。其雕艺之高、做工之细、构思之妙，堪为后人楷模，影响深远。
历史悠久的竹刻艺术，发展至明代中期成为专门的艺术。
明清时期，中国竹刻工艺日益繁荣。竹刻在盛产竹子的江南地区，在竹制笔筒、扇骨上镌刻书法、山水。用刀如笔，雅俗共赏。
