产品说明：但凡要吃饺子、切面、包子、烙饼之类的面食的时候，一道必不可少的工序就是擀面。尽管现在自己动手做面食的机会不是很多，可是擀面的技术如同游泳一样，一旦学会便终生不忘。

所有擀皮儿的活儿当中，包子皮儿最好擀，皮儿厚不说，吃一次也包不了多少个，一会儿就完活儿了。就数饺子皮儿和馄饨皮儿麻烦，要擀得匀、薄，而且数量多，一个人吃20个，仨人就得60，且擀一阵子的。这两种皮儿的要求还不一样，饺子皮儿中间得有个脐，略略厚一点儿，以免煮的时候掉底儿。馄饨皮儿薄不说，因为撒了淀粉还忒滑溜，不好擀。麻烦归麻烦，比起外边儿用铁香烟桶一个一个摁出来的强万倍。

因了面食的不同，就需要用不同的擀面杖，尺寸和重量也大相径庭。家中最常用的就一根长约30公分的直棍，擀饺子皮儿、馄饨皮儿还凑合，擀切面或烙饼就不行了，那得用50－60公分甚至更长的擀面杖。曾在一位老北京朋友家中看到他家祖传的红木擀面杖，通体暗红油亮，有一米多长，酒杯般粗，压在手上沉甸甸的，约莫有10多斤重，一次可以擀4、5斤面，因为重又特别的圆，擀出的面又匀又薄。轮到他们这一辈儿不大有人自己擀面，早就束之高阁了，估计也没什么人抡得动这大家伙儿。有好收藏者曾出价一万元，被婉拒。
